The UO is fast-tracking housing production using sustainable mass timber from Oregon's forests.

There's one problem: Sound.

Oregon architecture major Charlotte Kamman has a theory:

Materials made from fungi may offer greener soundproofing solutions.

Her research compares the durability and soundproofing capacity of experimental panels.

Charlotte and professor Mark Fretz build a small-scale production and testing operation.

Their research could help make sustainable building the industry standard.

Charlotte's not the only student who's making things happen at the UO.

Audrey Saing, UO environmental science student — Product Design major **Audrey Saing** has launched Align, a postural aid that helps Special Olympics power lifters avoid injury.

Architecture Students at Work — **Oregon student architects** designed a temporary park pavilion for the City of Salem using recycled materials and a "kit of parts." The pavilion can be rapidly assembled, disassembled, and moved to another location.

Galápagos landscape — Environmental Studies major **Victoria Sanchez** and her peers researched and created proposals for new sustainable cities in the rapidly urbanizing Galapagos Islands as part of the UO's Sustainable Cities and Landscapes program.
