Fall Term Deadlines
First-Year Students
The application for first-year students starting in the fall term becomes available on August 1 of the previous year—for example, August 1, 2026, for students planning to start in fall 2027.
What is Early Action? Early Action is a nonbinding option that allows you to receive an admission decision sooner than Regular Decision applicants. By applying Early Action, you’ll receive a decision—Accepted, Denied, or Deferred to Regular Decision—by January 5.
What is Regular Decision? If you apply by the Regular Decision deadline, you’ll receive a decision—Accepted, Denied, or Waitlisted—no later than April 1. Applications submitted after the January 15 Regular Decision deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis.

To receive full consideration for first-year admission and automatically awarded scholarships, you must apply by the Regular Decision deadline and submit all official supporting documents, such as transcripts and test scores, by February 15.
Scholarships that require separate applications have different deadlines for supporting documents. Visit each scholarship’s webpage for details.

Transfer Students
The application for transfer students starting in the fall term becomes available on December 1 of the previous year—for example, December 1, 2026, for students planning to start in fall 2027.

Application Fee Waiver Program
We offer application fee waivers to first-year and transfer students with eligible financial hardships, and to active-duty military and US veterans.
Application fee waivers are granted to applicants with genuine financial need. The UO Office of Admissions administers the application fee waiver program and may add, remove, or modify methods of confirmation as needed over time. The UO Office of Admissions also may request documentation or verification of eligibility at any time.

Eligibility Requirements
You may qualify for an application fee waiver if any of the following apply:
- You are enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced-Price Lunch program.
- You have Pell Grant-eligible status based on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
- You are enrolled in a state, federal, or local program that assists students from low-income families, such as Upward Bound, Talent Search, EOP, or HEP.
- You receive state or federal public assistance.
- You have received or are eligible to receive an ACT, College Board (SAT), or NACAC application fee waiver.
- You live in federally subsidized public housing or a foster home, or you are experiencing homelessness.
- Your annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines established by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
- You are a ward of the state or an orphan.
- You are on active duty in the military or are a veteran. Proof of active-duty orders or veteran status will be required.
- You can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader. Verification will be required.
- You have other circumstances that demonstrate financial hardship. A written explanation supporting your financial need for a fee waiver will be required.
Please note: International applicants are not eligible for an application fee waiver. Visit our international admissions page to review the definition of an international applicant.
Undocumented students living in the US who have financial need are eligible to request an application fee waiver. You do not need to disclose your immigration status to receive a waiver.
The UO uses two application platforms, and their fee-waiver criteria are not identical. If you meet criteria listed on this page but do not see them on your chosen application platform, contact your admissions counselor for assistance.
Instructions for Applying With an Application Fee Waiver
- Choose your application platform: the Common Application or the Oregon Application.
- Before submitting your application, complete the fee-waiver section. Select every criterion that applies to you and sign the form digitally to confirm that the information you provided is true and accurate.
- The UO does not require counselor verification or documentation demonstrating financial need unless the only criterion you select is one of the following:
- I am on active duty in the military or am a veteran. After submitting your admission application, you will receive an email with login information for your admission portal, typically within 48 business hours. Log in to the portal, select the application fee-waiver link, and upload a copy of your DD214 or active-duty military orders. This option is available only through the Oregon Application. If you are applying through the Common Application and this is the only criterion you meet, contact your admissions counselor for assistance.
- I can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader. Add the email address of your high school counselor or another school official to the Common Application. That person will receive a request to confirm your eligibility. Once the UO receives the confirmation, your fee-waiver request will be complete. To submit another form of confirmation, such as a physical letter or email, send a copy to [email protected]. This option is available only through the Common Application. If you are applying through the Oregon Application and this is the only criterion you meet, contact your admissions counselor for assistance.
- Other factors illustrate financial hardship. Selecting this option opens a text box where you can explain the circumstances supporting your financial need. Your request is complete after you submit the explanation. This option is available only through the Oregon Application. If you are applying through the Common Application and this is the only criterion you meet, contact your admissions counselor for assistance.
