Favorite place to hang out in Eugene: Amazon Park! In the summer there are fresh blackberries, the pool is lovely, and it’s constantly a changing atmosphere between people riding their bikes, picnicking, and generally having fun.
Most memorable college class: Education, Reform, and Politics. I remember the Director of Admissions at Bates came to class, and I loved hearing from him and thinking about myself in the admissions profession, and how different each student’s journey to college can be. It’s quite special to get to talk to professionals in your class, to better shape your future career, and have great resources at your fingertips.
Best part of my job: Getting to meet and talk to people from such different backgrounds and stories. I love getting to ask folks questions about their life experiences and reflection on my own in the process!
Favorite UO fun fact: When I taught in Bulgaria, we would warm-up in class every day by doing the Wordle. Little did I know that the Wordle was invented by an international student UO alumnus, Josh Wardle!
Tips for college success: Research doesn’t just happen in the college classroom. It happens when you go to a club fair and figure out what clubs you want to join. It happens when you go to Office Hours just to talk to a professor about their life and get to know them better. Treating your campus as a research project allows you to get really curious and make you uncover more and more what your school has to offer. You never know where your discoveries might lead you.
