Beginning of October
Apply for FAFSA ASAP
Apply for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible after the FAFSA becomes available online at the beginning of October in the year before your start date. Applying early gives you time to fix errors that could prevent you from receiving aid. And it sets you up to receive scholarships that are tied to your FAFSA eligibility. Note that some scholarships are awarded based on your eligibility and/or merit, but others require a separate application.

Register before February 28 for the best chance of finding the right spot for you. You’ll have access to your My Housing portal a few days after receiving your admissions notification.

Confirm Your Decision
You must submit your Intent to Register and $200 advance tuition deposit by May 1 to make your decision to attend the UO official. Transfer student? You can confirm through the summer.

A stint studying bio-based building materials in Europe on a travel fellowship inspired architecture major Charlotte Kamman’s innovation: sustainable soundproofing grown from mushrooms.
Marine biology and geology major Marcus Chaknova was on a UO research cruise when he found volcanic ash from an underwater eruption. His discovery has led to early success as an Oregon graduate student.

You’re In! Now’s a great time to connect with current Ducks and hear their perspectives about life at UO.
You can sign up on the NearPeer platform—a great way to virtually meet other new Ducks, as well as student ambassadors who drop by to answer questions and share their thoughts. Or, if you’re able to visit us on any admitted student day, you’ll have a chance to talk to the students you’ll meet on campus.
If you meet the priority FAFSA deadline, you can expect to see a financial aid offer in late March. Your offer will come a little later if you missed the priority deadline. See more financial aid offer information and next steps.
Whether you’re a first-year or transfer student, we guarantee your tuition won't increase for five years. Lock in your rate as a 2026 student and keep it straight through 2031. The Duck Tuition Guarantee covers tuition and most mandatory fees—think building and technology fees. It doesn't apply to housing, dining, health insurance, or individual course fees.
Orientation is where it all clicks into place—you'll meet your advisor, nail down your degree requirements with their help, and register for classes.
Fall admits can choose from IntroDUCKtion sessions in July or August. You'll get details on Freshman Interest Groups and class registration near the end of your senior year of high school. Planning to start at the UO in winter, spring, or summer? There’s a Mid-Year IntroDUCKtion for you.
First-year student? Your My Housing portal opens up about four days after you get your admission notification. In the meantime, start exploring communities, halls, room types, and meal plans so you're ready to hit the ground running. To register, you'll need your UO ID (starts with 95, sent to your email) or your Duck ID (the first part of your UO email) once it's set up. For all housing deadlines, visit University Housing.
