We review your completed application in a comprehensive and holistic way. We look at you as a whole person—not only your GPA or test scores—considering how you might contribute to the University of Oregon’s academic community in meaningful ways.
As part of this process, we evaluate the strength of your high school coursework, your grade trend and test scores, your academic and extracurricular interests, and your unique talents. By taking a holistic approach, we make the time to understand who you are.
Not sure what you want to major in? That's completely normal. Our Exploring program pairs you with advisers who help you find the right fit by connecting your interests to a major and a career path that's all your own. When it's time to make it official, freshmen declare a major by the end of week four of their sixth term, and transfer students by week four of their third term at the UO—with some exceptions.
Some programs require you to apply as part of your UO application. These include architecture, interior architecture, product design, art and technology, children's behavioral health, pre-business, music, and dance.
In addition, you must indicate your interest in applying to the Clark Honors College as part of your UO application, regardless of your major.
Don't count yourself out if you don’t meet Oregon’s admission requirements—apply anyway. We want to know your whole story. Explore additional admission options, and use your personal statement to tell us what's behind the numbers.
The UO is test-optional for most applicants. If you do submit scores, SAT and ACT are weighted equally—no preference either way. And don't worry about essay scores or SAT Subject Tests; we don't factor those in regardless.
Early Action is non-binding, so no pressure. Apply by November 1 and you'll hear back by late December, with plenty of time to make your final college decision by May 1.
