Scientists at the Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon (CAMCOR) use a new aberration-corrected, cold field emission scanning transmission electron microscope—the first at any university in Oregon and a unique tool in the Pacific Northwest region—to investigate the smallest building blocks of matter and help external clients solve analytical problems.
The UO’s new Oregon Acoustic Research Lab (OARL) will test mass timber assemblies for sound and impact transmission, helping researchers to demo new materials and builders to certify products for affordable, multi-family housing. The facility supports the Pacific Northwest’s mass timber industry and its role in addressing state housing needs.
The Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is now home to the state-of-the-art BioFoundry core facility. It is open to university researchers and outside partners who work with biological and biomaterial samples.
AqACS offers expert husbandry and related services for researchers who use aquatic and semi-aquatic animal models to study vertebrate genomics and development. This facility is complemented by the Zebrafish International Resource Center and the Zebrafish Information Network, which serves more than 1,500 labs worldwide.
CAMCOR provides cutting-edge materials, characterization services, and access to equipment for academic researchers and a range of industry partners. As a student, you’ll get hands-on training on research-grade equipment, preparing you to enter the workforce at companies like SpaceX and the national labs.
GC3F supports life science research with advanced instrumentation, including DNA sequencers, flow cytometers, and a suite of advanced light microscopes, processing thousands of samples daily.
LCNI uses Siemens Skyra 3T and Prisma MRI systems for multifaceted research in cognitive neuroscience and biological imaging. Current research projects are focused on memory, mental health, and math learning.
OARL will provide next-generation acoustic testing of mass timber assemblies to support growth in the mass timber industry.
